THE MOVEMENT
Much has changed in 30 years since the film came out.
Discussions about "rising sea levels" were rare.
Now, this conversation is front and center.
Five of the Solomon Islands are already submerged.
In a few decades, all of the Maldives could be gone.
In Bangladesh, we may have 20 million climate refugees.
WELCOME
When I first wrote Waterworld (last century!) "climate change"
and rising sea levels were fringe ideas. Now, they are major
global concerns with millions at risk of losing their habitat.
(I was actually invited to the U.N. in 2019 to discuss the idea of
developing floating cities).
Instead of simply rebooting a sci-fi franchise, why don't we do
something that's never been done in Hollywood––use a movie
to start a movement? We'll be donating 10% of revenues to
aligned NGOs, working on water issues and ocean conservancy.
You can be part of this, too, and help to co-create a new reality.
